Glass Enamel, Copper Mask Earrings, Purple People Earrings
I love the mid-century modern influence in this charming cut-out face design. These earrings are domed and hand-enameled on copper in a soft purple color. I've added a swirling circular print that is reminiscent of Aboriginal face tattoos and masks. They are enameled on both sides for stability. Earrings have hand formed oxidized sterling silver ear wires or antique copper lever-back ear wires that are lead and nickel-free.
The copper shapes are carefully cleaned and prepared in order to accept the enamel. Then, I apply multiple layers of enamel, which is finely powdered glass. The layers of enamel are fused to the copper on both sides in a 1500 degree kiln. Some pieces are stenciled, silk screened, painted, or have decals applied. This firing process is repeated several times. Finally, the edges are sanded to expose the copper. And voila .... a vibrantly colored enamel pair of earrings which will make a great gift for yourself or a loved one.
Earrings measure 1 7/8" long from top of ear wire, and 3/4" at widest point.
