Skakeskin Bar Necklace, Copper Enamel
A beautiful snakeskin pattern is embossed onto pure copper. I hand-cut the metal into a rectangular shape and dome it slightly. The enamel color is a luminous green with gold undertones, very versatile. The edges of the rectangle are sanded to expose the bare copper. Lead and nickel-free antique copper chain and lobster clasp. A sterling chain and lobster clasp is also an option. Convo me if you're interested in having this necklace made in another color; I have many colors to choose from! This lightweight, minimal necklace is perfect for everyday wear.
Basse Taille is an enameling technique in which the enamel is applied over metal that has been etched or embossed with a relief pattern.
The copper shapes are carefully cleaned and prepared in order to accept the enamel. Then, I apply multiple layers of enamel, which is finely powdered glass. The layers of enamel are fused to the copper on both sides in a 1500 degree kiln. This firing process is repeated several times. Finally, the edges are sanded to expose the copper. And voila .... a vibrantly colored necklace which will make a great gift for yourself or a loved one.
Necklace measures 16" long with a 2" extender for a total of 18". Bar measures 2" long x .5" wide.
