About Me

Who Is RedAvaDesigns?
I'm Roslyn Broder. I worked as a graphic designer in Chicago for many years, before stumbling upon a passion for jewelry and object design, and altering metal and pattern to my will. 

I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earning a BFA in Studio Art with concentrations in Drawing and Video. I obtained my MFA in filmmaking, also from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and made short films and videos that have been screened in festivals and venues around the country.

I'm influenced by everything from Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design to Film Noir, Surrealism and Asian art. I appreciate the beauty of natural and organic forms and patterns, and try to incorporate these images and shapes into my work. I've always been drawn to miniature objects, toys, and hardware as well. I love making unique pieces that I hope will inspire others who share my fascination with design, art history, and nature.
