This stunning, one-of-a-kind, rectangular Aurora Opal is bezel-set in fine silver, to which I've added a beaded sterling edge and two prongs, with oxidization around the beaded edge. Two small prongs on either side add extra interest. The stone contains a rainbow of colors, ranging from blues and greens to flashes of orange and red depending on how the light hits it.
Aurora Opal is a 3-layer synthetic opal, or triplet, with amazing iridescent rainbow color. Synthetic opal is opal that’s made in a laboratory. It has the same chemical and physical properties as natural, mined opal. That means that synthetic opal is real opal. They are more cost effective, easier to cut, grind and shape than the more brittle natural gems and are highly resistant to temperature changes, as well as dry environments.
The ring is set on a 3mm band. It measures 13/16" long x 11/16" in width.
