Hot Lips Ring, Bronze or Sterling Silver
These adorable bronze and sterling rings were hand-cast using a vintage charm. I've soldered a sterling silver band to the lips, and then polished the surface to a beautiful shine. Finally, a metal sealant is added to the bronze ring to protect the finish.
I've cast them in solid nickel-free bronze using lost-wax casting. I start with a wax model, and then a plaster mold is made from the wax. Liquid metal is poured into the mold and heated in a kiln to create the final product, which is then tumbled, tumbled, and tumbled again, and polished to bring out the shine.
Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. It is hypo-allergenic, lead and nickel-free. Both bronze and silver may oxidize over time, but can be easily polished with a jewelery polishing cloth, as needed.
