This vintage animated lenticular kitty cat playing the violin is so adorable! I've prong-set him in a brass backplate with sterling silver prongs and rings. Vintage, like-new condition. The back of the cat is marked Vari-Vue. Sterling silver-plated chain with lobster clasp.
Vari-Vue (1948): Formally incorporated in New York by Victor Anderson, Vari-Vue popularized mass-produced lenticular novelties worldwide.
Novelty Charms and Prizes: During the 1950s, lenticular technology scaled down from large posters and postcards to pocket-sized items, charm bracelets, and cracker-box or gumball-machine prizes. Iconic mid-century items included royal coronation viewers, political campaign badges ("I Like Ike"), and winking or morphing mini-charms.
Measures 1 3/8" wide x 1 1/4" high including rings. Total length is 20".
