This pendant is hand-crafted from a mold of a vintage button that is pressed into fine silver clay, formed into shape, and torch-fired for several minutes. I've added a vintage 1920s blue glass scarab with gold details beneath a silver bar. Once fired, the pendant is polished and then oxidized to bring out the intricate details. The result is a stunning and versatile pendant that works as well with a t-shirt and jeans as it does with a special dress.
Metal clay is made from powdered precious metal combined with an organic clay-like binder and water. The clay acts as a binder for the silver and is burned away during firing. This leaves a pendant that is 99.9% pure silver, in contrast to sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. It is hypoallergenic.
Pendant measures 1 3/4" long and 1 1/8" wide. It hangs on an oxidized sterling silver chain with lobster clasp. Total length of pendant is about 19" long. In stock now.
