I fell in love with this vintage snake goddess charm and decided to re-produce it using lost-wax casting. I added genuine turquoise beads for an extra pop of color. I've oxidized and polished the charms to highlight all the details. Earrings are hand-formed from sterling silver.
I start with a wax model, and then a plaster mold is made from the wax. Liquid metal is poured into the mold and heated in a kiln to create the final ring, which is then tumbled, tumbled, and tumbled again, and carefully hand-polished to bring out the shine.
Serpents, throughout ancient cultures, have been associated with a variety of meanings. From malevolence to wisdom, and in the case of the Minoan Snake Goddess, immortality and renewal. The serpent's ability to shed its skin made it a symbol of rebirth and transformation.
Earrings measure 21/2" long and 1" at the widest point. Please allow 7-10 for your custom earrings to be completed.
